Forget the Habits - let's cause Havoc

2026 - Week 7

Unhinged Havoc

A Counterintuitive Guide for Humans to Have Less by Trying Too Hard
(With a respectful nod to Unhinged Habits by Jonathan Goodman)

If you’ve ever read a productivity book and thought:

“This is it. I will reinvent my entire life before next Tuesday.”

Congratulations.

You are already living the principles of Unhinged Havoc.

Because while Unhinged Habits by Jonathan Goodman is a genuinely wise guide to doing less in order to have more…

Unhinged Havoc is what happens when you take that advice, ignore it completely, and choose chaos instead.

Let’s review the highlights.

Chapter 1: Wake Up at 5AM (To Prove Something)

Unhinged Habits gently suggests building a life around what matters.

Unhinged Havoc suggests building a life around what looks impressive on LinkedIn.

Are you exhausted? Perfect. That means it’s working.

Chapter 2: Do More. Achieve Less. Repeat.

The Havoc Method is simple:

Try harder. Stress more. Somehow have less.

Optimize everything:

  • your morning routine
  • your side hustle
  • your sleep score
  • your personality

Eventually you unlock the ultimate milestone:

Burnout, but efficiently.

Chapter 3: Rest Is Just Laziness in Disguise

Unhinged Habits says: create space, be human.

Unhinged Havoc says: if you’re not improving yourself, are you even alive?

(Do not answer that.)

Chapter 4: Add More Systems Until You Collapse

Three planners. Two apps. One Notion dashboard titled “Becoming Her.”

At some point, you spend so much time organizing your life…

You forget to live it.

Jonathan Goodman calls this misplaced effort.

Unhinged Havoc calls it Tuesday.

The Actual Lesson (Unfortunately)

Here’s the truth hiding under the satire:

Trying too hard is the most common habit of all.

Students do it. New grads do it. Adults do it.

We keep thinking:

“If I push harder, I’ll finally feel ready.”

But the real win isn’t doing more.

It’s doing what matters.

Which is… basically what Unhinged Habits has been saying the whole time.

Annoying. Wise. Human.
